I am writing this post in advance because I am in NYC right now for a week! I will, of course, be visiting lots of bookshops and trying to use some self-control and not buy too many books. Follow along on Instagram where I share my day in the life videos!
July was a fun reading month and I am so excited to share what I read, but before I dive in I want to share some new releases that I think you should pre-order or request from your local library this month.
August New Releases
Family Lore *this month’s Literary League pick*
What I Read Last Month
A Perfect Vintage: if you were a fan of The Idea of You by Robin Lee then you can just stop reading this review and order this book ASAP. Set on a French Villa that you will be dying to visit. This book follows a consultant, Lea, who specializes in helping transform and revamp French country estates into boutique hotels. But this work trip is unlike her past ones when her best friend all but begs to tag along after leaving her husband. Not to mention Lea may or may not fall in love with a much younger man…
Late Bloomers: this month’s Literary League pick was so good! If messy family dynamics and second chances are things you like to read about, then this book is sure to be a winner for you too. We follow an American-Indian family that from the outside might seem to be falling apart when their arranged 36-year marriage finally ends. I loved reading about each of the family member’s new beginnings and second chances throughout this book.
Swipe Up for More!: I listened to this on Audible and think I would have preferred the physical version. If you are interested in learning about influencers and why they matter and the billion-dollar industry then pick this up! It’s a shorter book, that is packed with inside information on the industry.
Little Monsters: all I can really say is wow! This book was an absolutely beautiful read, set on the cape, which for me means perfect for summer. Little Monsters is a juicy story about a family who has never been quite the same after their mother passed away during childbirth. The book opens with ruminations from the father, Adam, a brilliant oceanographer who has bipolar disorder that is currently going unmanaged while he works through his most recent scientific breakthrough. But their father isn’t the only one hiding secrets, his children Ken and Abby have their own secrets that will be uncovered.
