What I Read in August 2022

I don’t know what happened in August, but I seriously was bit by the reading bug. I could not stop reading all month long. I’m not sure if it was just part of soaking up the end of summer or because all of these books were just THAT good.  Everything I Read in August 2022 […]

What I Read in August 2022

Our Wives Under the Sea: another phenomenal book club pick from Literary League. This is a horror book so definitely plan when you want to read it! I was completely engrossed in the storytelling and this book had such a visceral feeling. It has themes of loss and grief woven throughout the book in a thoughtful way.
The No-Show: I picked up this book from the library after hearing a few rave recommendations and boy were they right! I can’t tell you much about this story, because I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you love a twist and falling in love with fictional characters then pick this book up today.
Everything I Know About Love: I have been dying to read this memoir by Dolly Alderton and it did not disappoint. This book was funny, true, and relatable to anyone in their 20s. If this is sitting in your TBR pile I recommend moving it up asap.
Conversations With Friends: A Sally Rooney novel that I both could not put down and also hated all of the characters throughout the entire story. She does it again! I finished this book in a day. Sally Rooney’s writing is so unique and really captures people with all their faults and merits. After you finish this book, be sure to watch the Hulu series. I thought it was well done.
Things We Never Got Over: This was another BookTok book that just kept getting recommended to me. It’s over 500 pages long, and I didn’t have much hope that I would finish it. I was completely wrong, and ended up reading this book in 2 days. This love story will completely consume you and you will not want it to end.
The Hotel Nantucket: It isn’t really summer without an Elin Hildebrand book is it? Hildebrand’s latest release was a fun summery read and I felt a little like I had stepped my feet on Nantucket while reading it. There is romance, new beginnings, and even a ghost story in this book. If you are looking for light enjoyable reading I recommend picking this up.

Instead of doing what I thought I was supposed to be doing, I got intentional. I started asking “what if” all the time and I stopped putting so much pressure on myself to do things at the perfect time or the right way. Instead I took a little leap here and another there to create a life I love.
