I’ve never written much about my birthday, but this year is different. Why now? Because I am officially starting the year over. 2020 has been one hell of a year for ALL of us so I am using my birthday as a celebration of a new year, my new year. When 2020 began I had a list of everything I wanted to accomplish both in my business and personal life and then COVID-19 hit and everything changed. This isn’t a new story to you, you are right there living it with me.
We all deserve to give ourselves a little bit of a fresh start. You can do this today or tomorrow or on your birthday or whenever and however frequently you want to! Oftentimes, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to set goals and stick to them and if we don’t achieve them then we deem it a failure, but the reality (that’s become even clearer as of late) is that life changes and so should those goals. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t keep working to those goals that are still important to you but maybe your timeline might change or maybe what was important to you on January 1st isn’t anymore.
I wrote all about re-assessing goals which you can read more about here.
After revisiting my original 2020 plans, here are some of the goals I am ditching and some of the new ones I am adding in.
I will not be hiking Half Dome in Yosemite this year. Travel at this point just isn’t on the table for me. Hopefully, by next year I will be up to it, but this year I will be staying fairly close to home.
I will be committing more time, energy, and money towards Black Lives Matter. You can read more about that here, but this is something that has quickly risen to the top of my goals and priorities.
I will be taking on new projects within my business. I have already started this with my new courses that you can check out here. But there are so many more things in the works and I can’t wait to share!
I will not be hosting a big dinner party (at least I don’t think so). I had a goal to have a big dinner party, but instead this year is looking like a lot more cooking at home just for two. I have gotten into my cooking groove and even found some go-to recipes. I’ll let you know when I figure out my signature dish.
Learning a lot of new things. I am always learning, but with some of the extra time I have on my hands I will be taking courses to help me in lots of different areas of my life. Think finance, abundance, business growth, TikTok video skills, etc. I will share more about the courses I take and love throughout the rest of the year.
So if you too are finding that goals need to be shifted and changed then I hope this post gives you the little push to do just that. I hope you are just as excited about your new year as I am!
Happy new year!
