The past few months were a little bit slow on the reading front for me. I think between some traveling and the hot weather, I prioritized being outside and the reading just fell by the wayside. It also took me a little while to get into some of these books (but I was so determined not to just quit reading them). Does anyone else commit to a book even if they aren’t loving it?
Alright, now onto what I read over the past couple of months:
Modern Lovers: This was the real culprit of my slow reading. For whatever reason, I could not get into this book. BUT if you can make it halfway through Modern Lovers, you won’t be able to put it down.
How Not to Die Alone: Don’t let the title scare you. This fiction book is quirky and cute, almost a coming of age story. I don’t want to give too much away, but this is a book is about a little white lie that gets out of hand.
Opposite of Always: My 24 hour read! This book will suck you in! There is romance, drama, and a little bit of magic in this book. I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s such a fun lighthearted read.
Normal People: MIND BLOWN! This was by far my favorite book from the past few months and possibly the year. A romantic, coming-of-age book that feels so real, you will constantly be thinking that these characters are you.
The Library Book: This is my only non-fiction book from the list. The Library Book is about the Los Angeles Public Library fire in 1986. There are some puzzle/mystery elements to this book and loads of history that I never knew.
I got almost all of these books from my Book of the Month Box. If you are looking to read more and want quality books delivered monthly to your door sign up here.
Next up on my reading list:
If you want to read along with me, let me know! I announce every time I start a new book on Instagram and would love to have some virtual book club friends to read with.
You can see the rest of the books I’ve read this year here and here.
All of these sound so good! How Not to Die Alone caught my eye becuase of the interesting title!
