I am both over the moon excited to share what I read last month and also confused as to how we are already over a week into February! January was filled with some great books that I can’t wait to share with you, but before I dive in I wanted to share some fun news.
I am a Literary League book club chapter host for Salt Lake City, UT. If you have never heard of Literary League, you can learn more about them here. They have over 30 chapters all over the world who all read the same book and meet once a month to discuss. If you are in SLC, UT and would like to join, let me know! This month we are reading Detransition, Baby by: Torrey Peters.
Now, onto what I read in January.
Where the Crawdads Sing: I don’t know why it took me so long to open up and read this book. It has been on my to be read list a million times, but I just kept putting it off. This is a truly beautiful book about a child Kya, who is abandoned early on and learns to grow up in the marsh. It is about the beauty of nature, a coming of age story, and a possible murder in a small town. I don’t know what more you could ask for from a book!
Big Magic: can I just say wow to this book? I don’t even know if it needs more of a description. Big Magic is a book that everyone should read. It is about living a creative life, and even if you don’t call yourself a creative, trust me you are, and you will benefit from reading this.
The Wedding Date: you guys know I love Jasmine Guillory’s love stories. This was no exception and is the first of her five-book series. If you are on the hunt for an easy-to-read, steamy romance look no further.
The Wife Upstairs: this thriller is a reimagining of Jane Eyre which is what initially drew me to the book. When Jane, a dog walker meets Eddie Rochester a wealthy widower, her luck changes and she seizes this opportunity to never again walk dogs or steal from her employers. But Eddie has a complicated history and there is a twist in this book that you won’t see coming.
Currently in my to be read pile:
What do you do with the books you have read? Just looking for ideas, as I have hundreds and parting with any of them is really hard!
