As a small business owner, it’s hard to know what the right things are to invest in to help grow your business. I know from working with small business owners, and being one, for the past 7 years just how important every dollar is and that getting a return on your investment is not just nice, but needed.
Video content is the number one way to invest in your business and see it pay off. Whether you are investing in someone to actually help you create the content or doing it yourself it’s still an investment in time.
The Case for Video Content:
- Strong content will help you grow and sell. If you have felt stuck on Instagram in particular, and aren’t utilizing reels you are missing out! Reels were introduced in 2020, and are here to stay. Reels will help you reach a wider audience and grow your account.
- Video is king when it comes to organic content and what’s great is you can repurpose your work! There is nothing worse than having a photoshoot and only being able to use the content one time. With vertical video content you will be able to use it across a variety of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and more. These platforms have also publicly stated that they prefer video content over static photos.
- Video allows you to tell more of a story! Your brand story is what people connect to and the reason they will become obsessed with you. Video lets you show more of your personality and will help users connect to you.
- Video will help your paid ads perform better. Video has a 25% higher impression rate than static ads on average. Talk about getting your dollars to stretch!
Now that I have convinced you let’s fast forward a couple months to the most common complaint. “Okay, but I have been using video content and I am still not growing!”
What Might Be Going Wrong:
- Your strategy isn’t strong: without a good strategy to help grow your account and engage with current followers it can feel like you are just shouting to the void. Your content should be diverse and not every post is designed to go viral. Some posts should focus on sales and some on reaching new followers, etc. Make sure you are also paying attention to current trends in your niche.
- You don’t have a hook: a hook is whatever stops the scroll of your followers. This is the first thing your follower sees and then they make up their mind as to whether or not they will keep watching, learn more, or scroll on. Your hook should be attention-grabbing and engaging, and every content piece needs one.
- You haven’t nailed down your formula or secret sauce: think of this as your go-to thing that people know you for! It might be the way you introduce yourself, your editing style, the way you talk, or more likely a combo of all these things. Finding your secret sauce that makes you stand out and feels authentic is how you will stand out and become someone people are obsessed with.
- You aren’t consistent: this is the number one problem I see people running into. If you post sporadically or only once a week, you won’t see growth.
How I Can Help
- Content planning: creating good content doesn’t always happen in the moment (but we love it when it does), and I know you don’t want your whole life to become content. To make the most of your content and to really be strategic you need to PLAN! This is everyone’s least favorite thing to hear, but once you start planning your content in advance you will be thanking me. Using a content plan will have you posting more consistently and spending less time on your phone. If you are ready to have a go at it check out my content calendar designed for small businesses and bloggers.
- Management and creation: I am not going to lie to you, learning to create really good video content and executing it consistently takes a lot of time. Probably more time than you can really devote if you are a small business or solopreneur. This is why I offer a strategic video content creation package! I will work with you to plan out your social strategy and then create your video content for you. With this package, you will be able to take back time to focus on other parts of your business while growing on social. Learn more here!
