I can’t believe I am already writing this post! 2019 absolutely flew by and to be honest, I am not ready to say goodbye to this year. 2019 was filled with so many amazing adventures, people, books, and it became a year that helped me decide what I want for my business. But the end is coming and I am starting to get excited for 2020. Before I dive into some of my 2020 goals and projects I wanted to share (kind of like a Christmas card) a little bit about my 2019.
This past year was filled with more adventure than I could have ever expected. I took a few really big trips and a lot of little, long weekend vacations.
Here are some of the places I had a chance to visit.
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- San Diego, CA
- Moab, UT
- La Jolla, CA
- New York City, NY
- Boston, MA
- Denver, CO
- Boise, ID
- Las Vegas, NV
- Havasupai, AZ
- Rosarita, Mexico
- Amsterdam, Netherlands

And of course, these adventures were not taken solo. I have met so many amazing people over the past few years and could not be more grateful for them. Just a friendly reminder to any “adults” out there still trying to find their humans, they will come.
Some of the bigger lessons I learned this year were around mindset shifts. There were a lot of things I had been telling myself for a very long time that just turned out not to be true like “you can’t take a backpacking trip” or “you can’t start a podcast.” The list could go on and on about the stories I told myself. But this year I took a step back from these stories and just did the things that I thought I couldn’t, and it’s the single best feeling in the entire world.
Professionally, I have been really trying to step into my business and set goals both number wise and passion related for the next little while. I think for the past year and a half, I was still figuring out how this whole new business, working for yourself lovely mess works. Things like paying taxes, or contracts, or learning how to work alone. Now I am ready to set my eyes on bigger goals and long term planning.
As we start to prepare for the new year new decade, I have been thinking about goals or changes that I am looking forward to making.
Here are a few of the things I will be doing in 2020.
- Read 52 books.
- Create a better sleep routine (no more TV in the bedroom).
- Meditate daily.
- Learn to needlepoint.
- Start saving and investing/learn about saving and investing.
- Hike Half Dome in Yosemite.
- Teach Stanley two new tricks.
- Find a signature dish and host a dinner party.
- Take a spending pause during January, and two other months (May and August).
I can’t wait for 2020 and all it has to offer. If you are looking forward to making this a memorable year as well, I recommend getting comfy with a journal and doing the following. Write a little letter to 2019 and say thank you to all the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then, say a little goodbye to all the things that you won’t be bringing with you into 2020. Lastly, write out a dream list of all the things you want to do (even if you don’t think you can) and reach for the stars. There is no better way to make those dreams a reality than to write them down on paper and start putting them out into the universe.
Wishing you a Happy New Year!
