March has been THE longest month. I don’t know about you guys, but I struggled to get through books with all of the news going on. I found myself frequently getting distracted or reading a whole page and forgetting what I read. If you are also having this problem here are a few suggestions I have to help you.
- Put your phone far, far away from you while you read.
- Don’t be afraid to abandon a book. Now is not the time to read books that aren’t completely captivating your attention.
- Set yourself up for success by creating a cozy spot to read where you won’t be disturbed. This could be a corner in your home with blankets and pillows or drawing a bath and lighting some candles.
- Have some background noise. I find that when I have some background noise (low volume chill music), I can get into a book faster.
March Book Roundup
Red White and Royal Blue: This is a cute romance between the First Son of the United States and the Prince of England. If you’re looking for a feel-good, romance novel with a happy ending, this one will bring a smile to your face. I couldn’t help but grin throughout the last 100 pages of this book.
Two Lives of Lydia Bird: Before you dive headfirst into this book, I feel like I need to warn you that it is so sad for the first chunk. This book was one that I couldn’t put down, just because I wanted the main character to find happiness so badly. If you are looking for a book that will really capture your attention in a tragic but cute love story, this is it.
You are Not Alone: For all of my thriller lovers, you have to pick this book up. Every turn of the page I found myself almost yelling at the main character to make different choices. It’s such a great read and it will help you get out of your own head.
