Have you ever sat down to write a blog post and just gone absolutely blank? I was literally just doing that when I realized “this would make the perfect post”. Running out of content always seems to be a fear, but the reality is you have so much to share and so much knowledge that there is no way you will just run out of ideas.
Getting out of your writing rut:
The first thing I want to share is a way to generate blog post ideas. If you are ever feeling stuck or you are in a writing rut, put down everything. Leave your home and do something that inspires you. This can be walking through your neighborhood, going to a fitness class, hiking, getting a really good meal, etc. Pretty much anything that inspires and invigorates you. I find that moving my body in some way is the best way to get some inspiration. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you actually show up for it. Don’t go on a walk and scroll Instagram. You need to stop consuming content and media, even if it’s just for 30 minutes.
Once you’ve done that, put on your favorite music, get out a pen and paper and write 50 blog post titles. Do not filter or edit these, just write. You are going to get some really weird things and some duds, but you are also going to get some good ideas. After you have written out 50 titles, circle the ones you are actually interested in writing. Then start working through a content calendar to plan out when you will write and post them.
If you’ve never used a content calendar you can download my free template here.
