What I Read This Summer

I love reading the “what I’ve been reading” posts from my favorite bloggers. Not only does it help me weed through the books I have endlessly piling up in my Amazon cart, but it keeps my list endlessly growing. This year I made the resolution to read every single day. I didn’t make any commitment to how many pages, or chapters, or anything like that, only simply to pick up a book and read every day. The results have stuck! I have read more this year than I have in a long time.

If you are trying to get back into reading, I highly recommend just promising yourself that you will read something every single day, and before you know it you will be in the habit and reading way more than just a sentence.

To get you started on your reading habit here are the books I have read this summer!

Little Fires Everywhere: I talked about this on Instagram when I finished reading it, but it deserves another shout out! This book was so amazing and I finished it in less than a week. I can’t wait until the movie comes out. I have a feeling it’s going to be a new favorite as well.

Turtles All the Way Down: This book was a nice, easy pool read. Although I didn’t feel like it was a life-changing plotline, it was extremely entertaining. If you like young adult fiction, then this book is for you.

How to Walk Away: I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN! I flew through the pages of this novel. If you are looking for a tragic start with a happy/feel-good ending, then put this in your cart today.

Something in the Water: I feel like everyone has heard about this book, but if you haven’t read it, you need to. My mom and I both read this book and were enthralled the whole way through. It’s definitely a page-turner, and the ending completely caught me off guard! I would highly recommend this read for a book club.

I also read Little Fires Everywhere this summer! Such a good book! Usually I take my time with regular fiction but I literally couldn’t put it down! I also read The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy which was like, single-handedly the saddest book I’ve ever read, mostly because it was a memoir and was so heart-breaking. Suuuuuper well-written though!

Instead of doing what I thought I was supposed to be doing, I got intentional. I started asking “what if” all the time and I stopped putting so much pressure on myself to do things at the perfect time or the right way. Instead I took a little leap here and another there to create a life I love.
