There is no way around it 2015 is coming to a close and we are coming to a blank slate. With the coming of a new year I always try to enter it a little more organized than my post finals holiday craze weeks. There are a few ways that I attempt to give myself the illusion of being organized every year including color-coding my closet. It’s also around this time that I purchase one or two items that I think will improve my coming year, this year it was this hand held steamer (in the hopes of looking a little more put together). However, not all of my New Year preparation is as boring as it sounds, in fact one of my favorite things to do is make a list of all my favorite songs and download them.
This habit came from Triple J’s Hottest 100, where people vote on their top 10 songs from 2015 and in January the top 100 are played. Although I have my top 10 songs I don’t think I could sum up the soundtrack of 2015 in only 10 songs so I have a little longer collection. This practice is nice because I rarely download music so when I finally make my list I have a study playlist to work with for the coming semester.
Below is a comprehensive list of my favorite songs released in 2015.
Chainsmokers-Roses
Vera Blue-Hold
Hermitude- The Buzz (Ft. Mataya & Young Tapz)
Major Lazer & DJ Snake- Lean On
MØ- Kamikaze
Taylor Swift- Wildest Dreams
Of Monsters and Men-Crystals
Major Lazer-Powerful (ft. Ellie Goulding)
Disclosure-Magnets ft. Lorde
Marcus Marr & Chet Faker- The Trouble With Us
Rudimental- Lay It All On Me (feat. Ed Sheeran)
Alison Wonderland-Run
Alison Wonderland-Games
Alabama Shakes- Don’t Wanna Fight
Courtney Barnett-Depreston
Hozier-Work Song
These songs have made up a large portion of my 2015 and I can’t wait to listen to see which ones make it in the JJJ Hottest 100 list. What do you do to close up 2015 and prepare for the coming year?
