Morning walks are one of THE best things I started doing when I began my own business. If you find yourself struggling to get going in the morning or feeling stuck in a brain fog, then it’s time you start adopting morning walks. Truth be told, my dog Stanley makes it so so much more fun to go on walks, but even if you don’t have a dog, I highly recommend taking 15-30 minutes to stroll through your neighborhood.
Anytime I post about or mention going on walks before starting my day I hear about how someone doesn’t have enough time or can’t imagine sacrificing that extra sleep, and I totally get it. Which is why instead of me telling you to commit to taking morning walks every day for the rest of your life, I am going to challenge you to take three walks a week for one whole month. Make this a little experiment for yourself, instead of a chore.
Don’t worry about getting ready, I go for walks without doing my hair or makeup and am usually just in something slightly more elevated than PJs. I recommend getting a good hat for these mornings if you get nervous about running into neighbors.
I take my dog Stanley on these morning walks and he recently got a new harness and leash from Wild One that makes walking him more enjoyable for both of us! If you are a dog owner I highly recommend checking out this brand. The quality is amazing and easily washable which is especially important to me. They offer a Walk Kit, which is what Stanely has that includes the harness, leash, and poop bag kit for under $100.
P.S. their poop bags are biodegradable.
Here’s another important part of your morning walk challenge. After you have finished your 15-minute walk, I encourage you to brew yourself a cup of coffee or tea and sit down with a journal (even if it’s just for five minutes) and set an intention for the day. Write down what you are grateful for and if you have extra time, start doing a brain dump with all the amazing ideas that came to you on your walk.
When you work for yourself it can be so easy to ignore your creative side and get bogged down in emails and contracts. But by starting your day with a clear head, I promise you will see that your day is more productive and more enjoyable. If you decide to take on the challenge of morning walks three times a week for one whole month, let me know in the comments below.
