It’s time for my favorite monthly post! Last month I didn’t share a book round-up because June was mostly spent preparing to move and I had very little time for reading. But don’t worry! I really made up for that lost month in July. I ended up reading/listening to 6 new books in the last month and they were amazing.
July Book Roundup
The Vanishing Half: if you have yet to read this, I highly recommend pushing this to the top of your reading list (that might be the consensus on all the books I read this month actually). The Vanishing Half is about two Black twin sisters who grow up in a small town and how their lives diverge. This book reflects on family, black identity, and so much more. I cannot recommend this book enough!
Untamed: I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book because it was ah-mazing! I know a lot of you have already read this because I received so many messages when I shared this on Instagram. But for those of you that haven’t, I am going to leave you with this quote from the book that will convince you it’s a must-read. “The truest most beautiful life never promises to be an easy one. We need to let go of that lie that it’s supposed to be.”
Lock Every Door: searching for a thriller that you won’t be able to put down? This book had me hooked from the beginning. I think I managed to read this almost in one sitting and I just didn’t want it to end.
If I Never Met You: this is the book we all need! This sweet lighthearted romance will keep you turning the pages. This book has all the ups and downs of any good romance and the happy ending that we really all crave right now.
Me and White Supremacy: I listened to this audiobook over the past 28 days and highly recommend it. If you are looking for the next book to expand your anti-racism learning and actions, this is a great one. If you are listening to this audiobook, I do not recommend doing it while driving or as background noise on your morning walks. At the end of each chapter, there are journaling prompts for you to dive deeper and reflect. It deserves your full attention.
Head over Heels: this lighthearted romance has everything you could want. Self-discovery, love, and of course, gymnastics. After reading this book I really wanted to re-watch Stick It.

I just finished Every Moment Matters savoring the stuff of life by John St Augustine. And This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger. His writing style is similar to the author of Where the Crawdads Sing. Great books.
