I am so excited to be writing this post! Truth be told, I have been working on it for quite some time because I really want to get it right. That’s how much I care about Her Campus. Her Campus is an online collegiette magazine written by college students for college students. It’s an amazing platform that aims to propel women into building their online portfolios and give them a voice.

Writing for Her Campus

I began writing for Her Campus Utah after my year and a half abroad. I came back to Salt Lake City after living in Australia and I wasn’t sure if school was the right path for me or what I wanted to study. Then I began writing for Her Campus. It was on a whim that I filled out the application because one of my friends said, “hey I think you’d be good at this.” I was accepted and wrote my first article two weeks later. Let’s just say my first article was less than stellar but this platform has given me so much room to grow both my writing style and professional platform. Since my first article, I have held two leadership roles within Her Campus Utah and had the opportunity to intern in their national office in Boston. All of these experiences set me up for the future I am pursuing in journalism.

Her Campus’ mission to empower women by giving them a voice online and an opportunity to grow and learn through leadership experiences is a huge reason why I am so excited to graduate and enter the workforce. Her Campus was the platform that let me share my story of why I dropped out and then back into school and served as a way for me to find my niche in college.

One of the most valuable college experiences most people will have is interning and I could not agree more. If you are looking for a new experience or to grow your online portfolio, I highly recommend checking out the Her Campus Internship page and check out your school to see if they have local opportunities. I’m really grateful for the experiences and relationships that came my way because of Her Campus.

I'm Bailey, your new social media bestie.

Instead of doing what I thought I was supposed to be doing, I got intentional. I started asking “what if” all the time and I stopped putting so much pressure on myself to do things at the perfect time or the right way. Instead I took a little leap here and another there to create a life I love.
