There’s only one more post until my end-of-year reading wrap-up. When I realized this I started picking up my reading pace. I am a firm believer that reading should be a fun activity and you shouldn’t stress yourself out trying to read as many books as possible. Burning out from reading is not on my current to-do list.
BUT the weather has gotten a whole lot cozier and I am trying to prioritize reading time over scrolling time. So I took some inventory and moved some books up to the top of my TBR pile. At the end of this post, I am going to share all the books I have waiting to be read.
What I Read in October
I am, I am, I am: Seventeen Brushes With Death: an audiobook that took me two months to read and one I can’t stop talking about. This is a memoir about Maggie O’Farrell’s life and the 17 brushes with death she has. Her storytelling is brilliant but her unique perspective on the world is one I am grateful to have had the chance to experience.
It Starts With Us: this is the sequel to It Ends With Us and is a much lighter romance than the previous book. Colleen Hoover wrote in her letter to the reader that this book is like a thank you for the reception It Ends With Us received and I truly felt that thank you. Do research before reading either of these books because these books dive deep into topics about domestic violence.
I’m Glad My Mom Died: just stop what you are doing and download this book on Audible today. In this memoir, Jennette McCurdy details her life as a child actor, her struggles with OCD, her eating disorders, and her relationship with her mother. Jenette’s candidness will make you feel sick at times and be prepared to take breaks while listening to her story. This memoir is one that will be talked about for a long, long time.
The Kiss Curse: this book is the sequel to The Ex Hex which I read last year. It is just as cute as the first book and has some serious Halloweentown vibes. There is nothing scary about this book and you will find yourself grinning the whole way through.
A Very Secret Society For Irregular Witches: I was determined to read this book even though I was running out of time before Halloween and I am so glad I did! If you aren’t a seasonal reader and don’t mind reading about witches outside of the month of October then pick up this book! It follows the story of an isolated witch who gets the opportunity to live and work with a new family and this opportunity changes her life forever. It’s sweet, and funny, and there is some romance. Highly recommend.
