If you were to walk into my apartment, there are a few things that would become very clear to you. One: I love pink and like to have a little bit of it everywhere. Two: I don’t own a lot of cute baubles and things. Three: there’s a pretty good chance my laundry basket would be overflowing.
Since I started working from home full time I have found that creating a clean dedicated work area is key. It is so tempting to just work straight from bed, which I sometimes do anyway. Although I don’t have a home office, I do have a little desk and area where I work at 90% of the time. I try to be at my desk right at 9 am and then throughout the day I take breaks or work at coffee shops if I need a change of scenery. I highly recommend creating your own space and times for work only, because that line is going to get blurry and it’s important to be able to have a good work-life balance.
But the great thing about working for yourself is that your workspace doesn’t have to be boring. You are no longer confined to dressing up your grey cubicle or sitting in a spot with no windows. Now you can pick your desk, chair, lighting, and all the other things that will make your work that much more fun!
