I recently went on a quick trip to Chicago, a city that has been on my bucket list for a while now. I came to Chicago with a few places I really wanted to see and a ton of restaurants to try too. It was worth the wait. Whether you are planning your first visit to Chicago or you are a local, there are some great finds below.
These places took me all over the city and that was part of the fun! I love getting to see as much as possible and if food is the incentive to get me around town, so much better.
Firecakes Donuts: For a delicious donut and apple cider this place cannot be beat. They have unique flavors from bacon and pineapple to just plain vanilla. Not gonna lie, I may have gone back a second time!
The Allis: I had read about this place before coming and didn’t really know what to expect. If you like great cocktails, avocado toast, and onion soup, then you have found heaven. This unexpected find was made even better when I ordered dessert. Be sure to try their Pavlova.
Dollop Coffee & Tea: This coffee shop has locations all over Chicago, but it needed a special shout out because of their fun coffee flavors (nutella is included on the menu). Be sure to go for local coffee if you get the chance!
Mindy’s Hot Chocolate: Brunching in Chicago is truly an art and Mindy’s takes it to the next level. We opted to sit at the bar and could not have had better service. Mindy’s homey feel and unique spin on brunch food was just what I needed.
The Hampton Social: This place is absolutely to die for. Everything from the decor to the food is perfection. I tried the lobster roll and oysters and had zero regret. It is definitely at the top of my list to go back to. Be sure to try the Rosé of the day
I kept track of all the places I ate at on the Foursquare App. If you don’t already have this app it recommends places to eat nearby and allows you to create lists for the places you try (that way you never forget where you went). Let me know if you have any other favorite spots in Chicago, I’ll be back soon!
