I finally did it! We all have those items on our bucket list that we just put on there because we are a little bit basic like skydiving, going on a hot air balloon ride, or scuba diving. My basic bucket list item was to go bungee jumping. This is something I have been wanting to do for a couple of years and on my trip to Mexico, I found a place that offered bungee jumping only 40 minutes away from where I was staying.

So on the morning of January 2nd, I got up, jumped in a cab with my friend, and then proceeded to jump 100 feet over the clear blue ocean. If you haven’t heard of Bungee Beat then definitely look them up. If you ever find yourself in need of a quick adrenaline rush, lots of laughs and a new experience, this place delivers.

The best part of checking off something like bungee jumping from your bucket list is that you feel like you can accomplish the rest of your items. Suddenly making time to go see a new National Park or taking a surfing lesson doesn’t seem so unattainable. It is easy to get bogged down in day to day tasks and forget what it is that brings that extra joy into our lives. Looking back through these photos served as a great reminder of what is important to me.

Jumping into Life with a Leap of Faith

About 3 years ago I started to think about what I wanted from life, that maybe college wasn’t enough and maybe it wasn’t the right path at all. It was then that I took a leap of faith and moved away for a year and a half and traveled. I realized that life didn’t have one linear path to happiness and that all risks were worth taking.

As I am approaching my graduation in May I have started to think about what the future holds and where I will be living and working. The list of unknowns is lengthy. But reflecting back on 3 years ago, I know so much more about what I want and how to achieve those things. I’ve learned that my family and friends will support me no matter what, that I can accomplish much more than I ever thought possible (including carrying a heavy backpack around the globe), and that sometimes taking that chance and jumping in feet first will take you further than you ever thought.

Instead of doing what I thought I was supposed to be doing, I got intentional. I started asking “what if” all the time and I stopped putting so much pressure on myself to do things at the perfect time or the right way. Instead I took a little leap here and another there to create a life I love.
